Pencil Sculptures

In approximately 72 hours I will be at the airport, heading to Paris. I am beyond ready to go. I've been working my butt off for the last couple of months and a vacation is definitely in order. Also, I think it's time to get back to some regular posting. Shall we?

Dalton Ghetti is a carpenter living in Connecticut with a really incredible hobby. In his free time, his makes micro sculptures out of pencil lead! Aren't they incredible? I think the alphabet would make a beautiful print. And I want this heart one in a shadow box in my room.

Elsewhere

I have been so down lately. Really, I have no excuse for it. I am off to Paris in two weeks, but I still can't get myself out of this funk. There's still so much I need to do, but all I want to do is climb into bed an take a nap. If only I could sleep, I suspect this would be a great plan...

Happy Birthday, Wayne!

Posting has been non existent lately, because I've been working non stop. More on that later.

Right now I want to say a quick happy birthday to my dear older brother. He went away for the weekend, but next week I plan I baking him some blueberry boy bait, fruity pebble treats, and MAYBE, if he's really nice, a bourbon pumpkin cheesecake.

He shares his birthday with Alphonse Mucha, which means he gets a sweet google doodle on his birthday!

Happy birthday, big brother. I hope you had a fabulous day!

If you let me.

Flirting with you is my favorite thing to do, and I could do it everyday without ever getting tired.

Kaboom!

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday weekend. This weekend we discovered that we can see the city fireworks from my neighborhood. Peeeeeeeeeeeeerfect.

The Country

My grandfather was from a really small town in western Virginia. Whenever we visited when I was little, I was amazed by how simple life could be. I commonly referred to it simply as "The Country."

Lately the honking cars, rude people, and never ending traffic have been driving me crazy. I want to run off to The Country and quietly sit on the porch drinking sweet tea, see some stars in the sky, and bake a pie.

Etsy Friday Favorite: Nourishing Notes

Today's Friday Find is a little shop called Nourishing Notes by Letterform Inc. Based in Chicago, the shop sells several different greeting cards for your sending pleasure.

The sweet and simple cards are hand letterpressed using soy inks! Each has a funny food pun on the front, and there's also a corresponding recipe or kitchen hint on the back. Brilliant, right? It's dinner AND a card.

High Violet

I'm a little late to the party here, but I can't stop listening to the latest album by The National: High Violet. It is deeeelightful.

I wasn't sure if the latest album would be able to live up to my love for their 2007 release, Boxer. This one is just different. The two have completely different tones, and I love them both. Check it out, and report back. Although, you should know that if you don't like it, I will judge you.

Cough Wheeze Bang

My poor laptop has been feeling a bit under the weather lately. After a rigorous round of virus scans (count em, 5!) things seem to be looking up. *fingers crossed*

Semi regular posting resumes NOW!
