Magic Juice, With Extra Magic
I'm lucky enough to be working this Memorial Day weekend, but I'm still looking forward to squeezing in some Magic Juice and swim time. This delightfully refreshing drink is going to be perfect poolside. Featured on Design*Sponge.

Lee DeWyze
Normally, I don't watch American Idol. It's just not my thing. BUT I do have a bit of a crush on this year's winner, Lee DeWyze. Isn't he adorable? I love it when he tries to dance. Apparently I'm really attracted to awkwardness.

Fruity Porcelain
Loving these porcelain farmers market baskets from Jayson Home & Garden. They would be great in place of a fruit bowl to showcase all the gorgeous fruit available at the markets right now. Cute and functional!

Yvette van Boven: Illustrated Recipes
I love this idea. Yvette can Boven is a renaissance woman in Amsterdam that owns a restaurant AND manages to eek out some awesome art. These illustrated recipes make me swoon. I'm thinking it would be a great, personal way to decorate a kitchen. My much coveted brownie recipe in particular. Check out her blog for even more lovely things to swoon over.

Shabby
This mirror collage from Anthropologie is on my list of dream items. If I had $700 to spare, it would be mine right now. This summer will definitely see me trying to recreate this look with some thrift store finds. Ohhhh yes. Just imagine in on an exposed brick wall, with a rustic wooden table under it.... *swoon*

Etsy Friday Favorite: Roll & Tumble Press
I think Friday posts should be dedicated to an etsy favorite find. Starting right.... now!
Roll & Tumble Press is a shop full of hand printed letterpress delights. In case you couldn't tell, I really really like letterpress style art. This shop has some beautiful work.
This Eat poster would look amazing in my future kitchen. I love everything about it.
And this Sweet Dreams poster would be so cute in the nook of a bedroom. Maybe over a nightstand? You see this cloud for sale print? It wants to come live with me. Can't you tell? It's calling out to me.Be sure to check out their shop for some more beautiful and clever art prints! And next week I promise to look for something that isn't letterpress... maybe...

Cherry Clafoutis
Due to a disastrous miscommunication between the manager and the produce guy at our local supermarket, my dad and I got a GIANT bag of cherries for $.50 the other day. About 5 lbs of bright red, juicy deliciousness. I experienced not one ounce of guilt when turning a large chunk of those little beauties into what you see above. A rustic french cake/custard called a clafoutis. I happen to think this is one of the most perfectly simple desserts ever, and it's even better for breakfast. Yum.

Whale of a Tale
I am seriously smitten with this whale platter by Thomas Paul. Serving platters are my current lust item, and I think this one would really like to come live with me. Lovelovelove.
Morgan M. Morgansen's Date With Destiny
This video by hitRECord has me swooning just a touch. It premiered at Sundance as the primary example of what this new little company is about, and it received a very warm reception. The sequel also stars Channing Tatum and is equally amazing, if not more so. You can watch it on hitRECord's site now! Morgan and Destiny’s Eleventeeth Date – The Zeppelin Zoo

Mirror Mirror
I love the look of these mirrored cabinets that were featured on the kitchn. They would make a small kitchen look so big and inviting, not to mention adding a lot of light to a kitchen with few windows. I would love to do this in my future home.

Waiting for Superman
I saw the preview for this documentary the other day and I can not wait to see it. It explores the many pitfalls of America's public school system with focuses on the people trying to change it. There seems to be a large chunk devoted to the DC public school system and Michelle Rhee. Is Waiting for Superman the type of movie you'd see?

VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
Whitman-Walker Clinic is currently in the running for a Pepsi Grant. The clinic does great work for the DC community, providing HIV testing for free to the city with the highest HIV prevalence in the country. This money would provide care for countless patients throughout the DC metro area.
You can vote multiple times a day! Please pass it on to your friends!

Happy Birthday, Momma!
Today is my momma's birthday! My mother is a silly goose, and I'm pretty sure that's where I get it from. She has taught me everything I know, and I don't know what I would do without her.
Happy birthday, mom!

Happy Mother's Day!
We took my momma to Dupont Circle Farmer's Market and Eastern Market for Mother's Day. We had a lovely day and celebrated with fresh pretzels and doughnuts, some beautiful strawberries, and plenty of fresh cheese. Yummmm!
Happy Mother's Day, momma. Thanks for being the mean momma when you needed to be, and for being a great friend the rest of the time.

Atlantic City!
This post is a bit overdue... I spent last weekend with my aunt and uncle in Atlantic City!
My aunt was diagnosed with AML last July. She now has a clean bill of health and is ready to head back to work, but first we all needed a little vacation. We had a great time walking the boardwalk, eating ice cream, and I even made it waist deep into the ocean. Due to the many "no swimming" signs, I decided I shouldn't go much further than that.
Never been? You should go at least once. If nothing else, the people watching is SUPERB.

Accomplished
"I long to accomplish a great and noble task,
but it is my chief duty to accomplish small tasks
as if they were great and noble."
- Helen Keller

Today I was given the opportunity to help someone. If only for 15 minutes, that person felt more at ease with something scary and life altering. It was small, and it was only one person, but that's ok.
It still made my day.
