Thankful

It has been a rough year, and it would be easier for me to just scrap the whole thing and pretend it never happened. But we're not going to do that. Not today. Not on my very favorite holiday.

In spite of the many rough patches, I've been able to experience such amazing things this year. I've watched my family grow and bond through the hard times. My family and friends got to cheer my sister on when she won Wheel of Fortune. I climbed all 400+ stairs of Notre Dame.

I'm so so so thankful for the times I've had this year and the things they have taught me. I'm thankful for the friendships I've cultivated and the lessons I've learned. I'm thankful for all that I have loved and lost. I'm thankful for the past, the present, and most importantly the future.

AND. I'm so very thankful that I didn't burn the pie.

Pie

The past two days have been a non stop bake-athon. We have three pumpkin pies, a bourbon pumpkin cheesecake, cranberry cake, and some lovely candied pecans. Deeelicious.

Unfortunately, all of this baking has led to multiple burns. Now, I must go tend to my war wounds....

Rough

It has been a really long week, and it has made sleep difficult at best. What I really need right now is a hug and vodka. Doesn't even need to be in that order.

Blurgh

Well, I know this is half true. It's hard to say about the other half....

Le Dresser

Holy cow, I am absolutely in LOVE with this dresser. Lovelovelove. Can you imagine a more perfect place to store your clothes?

Yeah, me either.

Fish Pedicure

This morning, I found myself situated in a massage chair while a bunch of tiny fish nibbled on my feet. Don't ask me how these things happen, they just do. Ok?

So what does it feel like to have a bunch of fish bite your feet? Well, it tickles. It tickles quite a bit. After about 15 minutes in a tub with these little guys, my feet moved on to a typical pedicure. Can I say that the fish genuinely did more for my skin than the pumice stone the little woman scrubbed my toesies with? No. I can't. At all. BUT IT WAS SO COOL! Anyway, if you want to try it, go here.

To Whom It May Concern:

For the most part, I have no idea what I want. I don't know what I want to do with my life. I don't know where I want to work. I don't know where I want to live. Most of the time, I don't even know what I want for breakfast.

There is one thing I know beyond a shadow of a doubt: I want you.
I want to be with you all the time. I want to fall asleep next to you, and say good morning to you every morning. When I'm upset I want to cry on your shoulder, and when I'm happy I want to laugh with you. Every time I see a movie preview, I want to see it with you. I want to discover the world, and I want to do it with you. You are not a variable in my life; you're a constant. You're my best friend.

Lately, I feel as if I'm at a point where I run the risk of either losing you or losing myself. Frankly, neither of those options sound appealing.

Eat Wonky

I stumbled upon the most amazing thing on the way to the hockey game last night (Caps won in a SO!). DC has a new food truck called Eat Wonky, and their specialty? Traditional poutine. French fries topped with gravy and squeaky cheese curds. This little baby right here made me a VERY happy camper.

Weekend Staycation

My dad and brother spent this Halloween weekend in Danville, VA visiting family, which means my mother and I were left to our own devices.
We had a wonderful weekend involving carved pumpkins, Old Town Alexandria, and the National Harbor. I can't think of a better way to spend a sunny fall weekend.
