How to Train Your Dragon

Last night I went and saw this movie with the ever wonderful Sarah Knowlton, and we both LOVED it. There may or may not have been a tear or two in my eye by the end.

Not only was the story touching and full of laughs, but the art was GORGEOUS to boot. Go see it, ok? Please?

I am in love with this woman's books. They're sweet and unpretentious, with a lot of charm and a touch of magic. This is her third and most recent book, and I want to gobble it up. Available on Amazon. (Her first two books are equally marvelous. Check them out, too.)

Recently, I have been suppressing an overwhelming desire to set up a chicken coop in my back yard. How amazing would it be to wake up every morning and have fresh eggs for breakfast? Sadly, I do not think my neighbors would approve.

Sweet As Pie

I found this little video on lemondrop with a post title that involved the melting of ovaries, and I have to admit that it's tooth-achingly sweet. There's something about it that makes my heart swim. Working at a children's store as a teenager may have ruined motherhood for me, but things like this warm the cold cockles of my heart.

Here Comes the Sun

I still can't get over the weather. All day, I have been walking around humming Here Comes the Sun.

This song suits my life right now. Things have been rough lately, and I feel as if things are turning around. At least, I'm hoping things are turning around.

Today is St.Patrick's Day, and this weekend's forecast has me feeling extremely lucky.

Happy Birthday, Padre!

Today is my dad's 70th birthday!!! When I was little, I would routinely call him up and tell him I didn't feel good, and that only flowers would make me feel better. He would always dutifully bring home flowers and balloons to his little girl.

Happy birthday, Dad! I love you!

Spring? Sprung!

I was having a rough day yesterday, and when I opened my front door I found these little guys soaking up the gorgeous day.

This might mean that winter (the coldest and snowiest winter on record for the DC area) is finally over, and that is most definitely something to be smile about.

It's the little things.

Life has thrown some really unpleasant and somewhat unanticipated curve balls my way recently, and it has left me feeling so heavy hearted and emotionally raw.

All I want at this moment is to lie in bed with you holding me. I am oddly fragile right now. Be patient with me, ok? Just for a little while.

My grandma passed away last weekend, and this week has been trying, at best. All of my family and friends have been so kind and supportive, and it has made a sad week so much more bearable. Thanks so much, everyone. I'm lucky to have you.

Beachy

Is it summer yet? I'm so ready. This winter has been full of snow and wind and frustration, and I'm ready for some warm and easy days on a beach somewhere.
