Albert Einstein...

is kinda my hero.

Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.

Finger Painting for Really Talented Grown Ups

I saw this on lines and colors and NEEDED to share. Remember in preschool, when your mother would throw caution to the wind and let you pull out large tubs of finger paint? The pictures produced were usually sub par, but hey, it was fun. Well, a Portuguese artist is taking this to the next level.

Jorge Colombo uses an iPhone app to draw little images all over NYC. Since the iPhone uses a touchscreen, so this guy is really just finger painting. He even drew the cover for the New Yorker. How crazy is that?! I'm thinking I might need a print...

Buzz buzz buzz

I lovelovelove honey. Everything from plain-old-bought-at-Safeway-comes-in-a-plastic-bear-honey to organic farmer's market honey, and even super expensive high-end honey. Clover, wildflower, orange blossom, whatever. I love it. Enter the Savannah Bee Company!

a.) I'm kinda in love with their logo/design. b.) They sell Tupelo honey. If honey was a religion, Tupelo would be Mecca. c.) OMG look at how many types of honey they sell!!!!

So I ordered five itty-bitty little 3 oz jars pretty much immediately, and they came today! I always get really excited about mail (sending, receiving, whatever... I keep the USPS in business) and this was no different. I sliced the tape while calling out, "DAAAAAAAD! MY HONEY CAAAAAAAAAAAME!" I think everyone in my family is used to me freaking out about entirely mundane, not excited things, and they react accordingly. The packaging was beautiful, but that did not stop me from ripping it off of my friggin ADORABLE little jars, and I may or may not have stuck my pinkie in each one for a little taste.

I brought the Acacia honey with me to work, and have been adding generous doses to my pomegranate green tea alllllll night. I love drizzling my honey in super hot tea and watching it make swirly patterns as it melts. I know I can't be the only person that does this.... right?

I hope everyone had a loooovely Memorial Day Weekend full of BBQ and sunshine!

Color Me Mine

Mom and I went to Color Me Mine for her birthday, and we FINALLY got our pieces back today. Here's mine:

I'm SO happy with it. Hopefully, I'll get some more pictures up on flickr later this weekend.

William Merritt Chase

I am currently in love with this dude. He was an American Impressionist, and is kinda ridiculous. Unfortunately, the NGA only has one of his paintings hanging. Boo.

This last one is my favorite. Lovelovelove.

Where the Wild Things Are

I know I am not the only person that is looking forward to this movie. When I heard they were producing it (back in 2006!), I was overjoyed. Then I heard that Dave Eggers was writing the screenplay, and my heart skipped a beat. Official release date is Oct 16th. Can. Not. Wait.

Timberberg! Sandberlake!

Justin Timberlake was on SNL this weekend, and I am SO sad I missed it. Here's a video of the latest Timberlake and Sandberg skit:

MTV was kind enough to post the lyrics. Favorite part: "I'm gonna be the syrup, she can be my waffle."

Hulu has some other funny clips from the show. Check them out for a good laugh.

Mother Dearest

I'm posting this in the wake of Mother's Day for a very special reason. Today is my mother's 50th birthday. To commemorate this momentous occasion, and also Mother's Day, I wanted to share with you some very awesome things about my momma.

1. While in college, she learned how to read braille. She had a blind professor that rode his bike to work everyday, and he taught her to read braille. Cool, right? She taught me that there are TONS of cool things to learn in the world, if I'm willing to step out of my little box.

2. She is the mother bear, and the biggest prankster I know. This makes for an incredibly dangerous combination. When my sister's boyfriend did something stupid, my mother devised a plan that involved sand bags, his car, and a scarecrow outfit. Pretty awesome. Also, I'm pretty sure she remembers the name of every single person that has ever done me wrong, and STILL holds a grudge against every one of them.

3. She is a caregiver. I can't remember a single holiday that did not involve someone my mother had adopted. That's what she does; she adopts people. She always puts others before herself. ALWAYS. Even when I'm being obnoxious, cranky, and overall a bear to live with, she is patient and understanding. I know, without a shadow of doubt, that she would do anything for me.

4. She. LOVES. Cherry. Pop-Tarts. Because of this, we rarely have them in the house. They are the only Pop-Tarts she will eat, and she looooooooooves them. You see, little things make her happy. She has taught me to find happiness in the seemingly inconsequential.

5. She taught me everything I know, from how to brush my teeth to how to hold a hot glue gun. When I was little, she would come into my class and do crafts with us. One year, we made candy cane reindeer for Christmas, and all the kids thought I had the coolest mom ever. They were right.

6. She's MY momma. She protects me, shelters me, laughs at my jokes, teaches me new things, encourages me to grow, rubs my nose and forehead when I'm sick, lets me make my own mistakes, helps me pick out new books, and loves me even when I'm a pain in the ass. She is the best mother anyone could ask for, and I can't wait to see what she teaches me in her next 5o yeahs.

**She will also KILL me if she finds out I've posted these pictures. Not hypothetically, but really kill me. So let's keep this on the DL, lovies.**

Where a kid can be a kid!

Last night, we took Amara out one last time before she went back to Erie. Chuck E. Cheese's on a Saturday night is super effective birth control. I almost had to punt a small child when he tried to steal Amara's tokens. The things we are willing to do for this child...

Wayne and I developed a genius Mother's Day gift plan. Shhh... it's a surprise. We're retarded. That is not such a surprise.

Caps V. Pens, Game 1

I want Simeon Varlamov to be my best friend. I just wish this video better captured Crosby's reaction to that ridiculous save. Puck Fittsburgh!

Cappadocia, Turkey

I have always wanted to ride in a hot air balloon.

Budget Travel magazine featured an article on Cappadocia, Turkey. People live in caves carved out of the mountainside, and hot air balloons are the most common form of transportation. I want to gooooo!

Things That Make Me Smile:

I woke up in an incredibly bad mood today. My head has been a very busy place for the past two weeks, for various reasons. I feel a little better now, thought still not sleeping. These things brightened my day:

1. Lucha Libre Thumb Wrestling Masks
Yeah, I bought them. Could not help myself.

2. Brown Velvet Cupcake from CakeLove

3. Dance parties in my bedroom while listening to Incredibad

4. Phone conversations that last more than 10 minutes.

5. The Hug Shirt!
