If all of shark week looked like this, it would be favorite week of the year. Instead, Christmas week is DEFINITELY winning out.

Montreal
These beautiful pictures by Sylvain Thomin make me sick for Montreal. I want so badly to learn French and move to this perfect city. More pictures on his site.

I want to be near you
I miss you so much, right now, in this very moment. And it hurts. Things are better when you're next to me.
So come, ok? Please?

Patience: A Lost Virtue
I've been on what seems to be a blogging hiatus. This hasn't been entirely intentional. Right now, I'm in a very weird place.
Mostly, I'm concerned that any post I write will be a long string of "DON'T GO DON'T GO DON'T GO!" and that's not what I want.
I am terrified of loss, especially the loss of someone I hold dear. It is a fear that takes on a physical form, and it has been following me around for weeks now. At the same time, I am trying to be practical. This is me, and I am a practical lady. I am trying to figure out what will be best for the whole, and not just me. But come on. Who am I trying to kid? I have no idea what's best for this little whole of ours! I can't promise that things will be BETTER if I get what I want. I can't even promise that things will be GOOD. So how then do I give an opinion on this? How can I give a conclusive "do not go," when I don't know what will happen, or what will make everyone happy? Why oh why would I make this harder on us both?
Thus, I have not been blogging. I've been biting my tongue, and playing checkers with this good old buddy Fear of mine. We're working on my patience, and he keeps telling me that it will be ok.

Dead Fly Art
I'm torn. I can't decide if this dead fly art featured on Drawn! right now is amazing or incredibly creepy. Either way, it is pretty brilliant.
Oh, ps, I guess I needed a brea from things for a few days there.

Perfectly Portioned Planter
I'm in love with this planter from Design Night. It would be perfect for an apartment herb garden, and could easily be moved inside for the winter. Aren't they beautiful?
Long Days
Today was an incredibly long day. My clients at the clinic were uncooperative. Incredibly so.
This is how things should work: You fill out your paperwork, hand it to me, then let me do your test. After, you will thanks me, ask your questions, and leave. Period. This does not have to be a complicated procedure.
I have two good friends dealing with breakups right now, and neither is handling it well. This is how most of our conversations have gone lately:
"No one will ever want me."
"They will!"
"I will always be alone."
"You won't!"
"I don't want to go out. I don't feel like it."
"You should call me!"
"I'm not in any condition to talk right now."
Sometimes, I do not feel like being supportive and kind. Sometimes I feel like telling you to snap out of it. This is so not as bad as it gets. This is only the beginning. Believe me when I say that there are things that will hurt so much more than this. Trust me here.
You will be ok. Regardless of what you may be feeling right now, the world is not actually over.
At the end of this long, frustrating day, all I wanted was a goodnight. It seems it's just not in the cards for me tonight...
Tomorrow is a brand new day. I have my fingers crossed for a better one.

LEGO Fallingwater
How cool is this LEGO version of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater?!
I've developed a serious interest in Frank Lloyd Wright. Did you know he was married three (technically 4) times? Each marriage was surrounded by scandal, and many times it was impossible for him to find work. One of his "wives" (they married in Europe while both still had spouses living in the US) was even murdered by one of Wright's servants.
This is easily the coolest piece of Wright centered merchandise I've seen yet.

Snuggles
I spent my weekend in Richmond, and now it feels so strange to lie in bed all alone. I like having someone to snuggle up to when I wake up in the middle of the night. I like waking up to someone reaching out for me. I like knowing you are there.
It'll take me all week to get used to an empty bed again.

Bebes!
The past two days have been very baby-tastic.
Yesterday morning, September 14th, at 9:18 am, Mrs.Victoria Davis gave birth to an itty bitty little girl. V has been one of my best friends for 10 years, and I'm so excited for her and this new adventure in her life. I remember being 13, and laying on sleeping bags, giggling about boys, playing trivial pursuit til 4am, and prank calling the boys we had been giggling about. It's exciting to think that one day this tiny baby will be one of those 13 year old girls. Hopefully, I'll get to meet the little one soon, and I CAN NOT WAIT for pictures. Congratulations, V. I can't wait to see how you take on the role of mommy, and I look forward to watching your new bundle of joy grow up.
THEN, to add more baby excitement to the week, Chris became an uncle this morning at 11:43 am! I've seen a picture of the little one, and let me tell ya, she is beyond adorable. Is there anything sweeter than a newborn baby? Because I can't think of anything. She has amazingly round cheeks, and the most perfect little scoop to her little nose. He doesn't know it yet, but that little girl is going to have him wrapped around her teeny tiny little finger, and he is going to be an amazing uncle.

Cowgirl Creamery
If you have never been to a proper creamery, you should stop what you're doing and go right now. Well, if not right now, then certainly in the near future.
My personal favorite is Cowgirl Creamery. The staff is always knowledgeable and extremely helpful, and they will let you sample cheeses until you find exactly what you're looking for. I could easily spend an unhealthy amount of time and money in that place. (Try the Pondhopper!)

Arts On Foot!
Today, after coffee with SKnowlton, Mrs.Mosely and I traveled down to Penn Quarter for Arts On Foot. We saw some art, sampled some tasty food, and some not so tasty wine.
On top of the art, there was a trapeze artist!
And tap dancers!

I've decided I want to take up tap dancing. Every dancer that took the stage made it look like so much fun.
It felt like this event was a great warm up for Crafty Bastards on Oct 3rd. I love craft fair season. The Christmas shopping has officially started.

This Is What You Shall Do:
dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body. . .

National Day of Service
9/11 has been named a National Day of Service. I personally don't think people should have a single day where they participate in public service, but I think it's a lovely new way to mark a day of rememberance.

Hello, September.
We have had the most perfect pre fall weather over the past few days, and I am basking in it. The crisp air, perfect temperatures, and leaves slowly fluttering to the ground make me swoon.

Shhhhh!
There is a beautiful (kinda...) batch of cinnamon rolls ready to go in the oven, made by moi, using the Pioneer Woman's recipe.
Upstairs, there is a happily sleeping boy that will wake up to coffee and freshly baked cinnamon rolls, with a healthy shmear of icing.
Yes, I am amazing.

International Red Cross
These print ads from The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies are brilliant. What a great way to be reminded of your social responsibilities by a great organization.
I haven't been able to get into the clinic and do some volunteer hours in over a month, and I ache for it.
Go out. Volunteer. Be a better person.

The Magic School Bus
You may or may not know this about me, but I have a serious love for educational television. Growing up, I ran home to watch Bill Nye the Science Guy and The Magic School Bus. I'm a nerd, I know.
Anyway, for my birthday this year, my brother surprised me by burning the ENTIRE Magic School Bus (i.e. fav TV show EVER) series to DVD. It is such a perfect gift. It's great to watch 1.) when I need background noise, 2.) when I'm looking for something comforting and calming, and 3.) pretty much any other time, too.
picture from PBS.
Pen Art
Juan Francisco Casas was featured on Drawn! a bit ago, and I am totally impressed by his technique, if not by his subject matter. All his portraits are drawn with a plain old ball point pen!

Cheap Wall Art! My Love!
I'm loving this poster from The Poster List. It's only $10.99 sans frame, $20 with. If I'm being honest, that is a WHOLE lot less than I spent on some of my loot from Hatch Show Print and Hammerpress.
